A fine example of classic Victorian architecture and charm, The Fowey exudes character and warmth, with just the right degree of quirkiness, to provide a warm and ambient environment. The hotel has 37 individually decorated en- suite bedrooms, many which offer panoramic views out over the Fowey estuary, and is known for its award-winning food, having one of only two Master Chefs of Great Britain based in Cornwall.
There is a comfortable bar and two lounges as well as the restaurant, all offering stunning views. You can sit happily and while away the hours – for hours!!
The hotel is set in a landscaped garden with a second, beautiful garden area just across the Esplanade, right by the water's edge. The gardens have featured in the annual Fowey In Bloom awards. In the lower garden, traditional Cornish Cream Teas are served on lazy summer days or, alternatively, on the hotel terrace overlooking the gardens and water.
The area around Fowey is known for its rolling green hills with fields that come right up to the cliff edges, its tiny villages with delightful tucked-out-of-the-way pubs and famous harbours, such as Mevagissey and Charlestown. Fowey is also within easy driving distance of ancient towns such as Lostwithiel, which is packed full of antique shops, and there are any number of delightful gardens and heritage sites to visit.
