The Metropole Hotel (known as 'The Met') was built during the wave of new hotels all around Cornwall, which followed the expansion of the railway network in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In recent years, the hotel has undergone extensive refurbishment, and is proud to have achieved 4 star status.
The hotel is certainly a home-from-home....offering cosy nooks from where to watch the hustle and bustle of the Padstow's famous little harbour or the stunning Camal estuary, comfortable, individually-decorated bedrooms and plenty of delicious food to tempt the taste buds. The Metropole has 58 bedrooms and unusually for Padstow, ample guest parking!
As you’d expect from a hotel in Padstow, we offer a range of delicious menu options in our award-winning restaurant, incorporating as much local produce as possible. Our guests can also enjoy less formal dining in our Café Bar.
From the hotel, the town centre of Padstow, a real hive of Cornish activity, is only a short walk. Padstow has an interesting history and there is a museum in the town that will reveal all about the local traditions and customs. There are 7 fantastic beaches right on the doorstep with golden sands, glorious backdrops and plenty of rock pools ready to be explored. For garden and heritage lovers, there is a wide choice from Padstow’s very own Prideaux Place to the Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Restormel Castle and Lanhydrock House, slightly further afield. Wine lovers will be delighted to find the Camel Valley Vineyard a few miles down the road.
