Richardson Hotels is a collection of four very individual hotels situated in some of the UK’s most stunning locations on the Devon and Cornwall coasts. The hotel group is owned by Keith Richardson.
The Richardson Hotel Group was founded in 1990, when Mr Keith Richardson purchased his first hotel - The Idle Rocks Hotel in St Mawes, Cornwall. Originally planning to convert the hotel into flats, he decided to continue running the hotel and this soon developed into a passion for the hotel industry. Choosing hotels for their architecture and stunning coastal locations, he then purchased The Fowey Hotel in 1996, The Grand Hotel in 2001, The Metropole Hotel in 2002 and, finally, The Falmouth Hotel in 2004. His love of beautiful buildings is reflected in an on-going refurbishment programme that aims to restore and renovate the architecture, whilst modernising the interiors in a sympathetic, stylish way that compliments each hotel's heritage.
Keith Richardson, a chartered accountant, heads the family-owned Richardson group of hotels. From his successful accountancy practice foundation, Keith expanded into the property market in the late 1970s, building up a property portfolio of over 200 properties, prior to entering the hospitality industry with the purchase of his first hotel, in 1988. Passionate about the industry, he has developed a group of hotels with stunning locations, beautiful architecture, comfortable interiors and superb food.
Ben has many years’ experience in the hotel industry and comes from a family with hotel links in Cornwall since the 1900s. He has held management positions in hotels, both in the South West and in London, and first joined the Richardson group of hotels in 2011, as General Manager at The Metropole Hotel, Padstow. In 2012, he was promoted to his current role as Regional Manager for the group's Cornish hotels. Ben is now responsible for The Metropole Hotel, The Falmouth Hotel and The Fowey Hotel.
Chris has extensive expertise in the hotel industry, both in the South West and other parts of the UK and has managed hotels of various sizes, from boutique riverside properties to larger scale resort hotels. He first joined the Richardson group of hotels in 2011 as General Manager at The Grand Hotel. In 2012, he was promoted to Regional Manager responsible for The Grand Hotel and a further hotel in Devon, which is currently being acquired by the Richardson Hotels group.
Christopher joined the Falmouth Hotel in 2012, returning to the town where he grew up as a child. He has a wide experience of the industry; working in award-winning hotels in England, to hotels across Europe. Christopher is looking forward to driving the Falmouth to the same 4 Star status that is enjoyed by the Fowey and The Metropole
Melissa has been working for the Richardson group of hotels since 2003. She started her career working for Rick Stein, before accepting a position at The Metropole and has since gained experience in key operational positions at the hotel, having been both Restaurant Manager and Operations Manager. She was promoted to her current position in 2012.
Samantha (known as Sam) has worked for the Richardson group of hotels since 2006. She has extensive experience across a number of areas within the hotel industry, including operations, sales and management.
